What the Full Moon in Libra Means for Your Wellness—And Your Zodiac Sign

Expert Advice
Personal Growth

Every month we have a full moon in one of the 12 zodiac signs (Aries through Pisces). A full moon carries a specific energy and theme based on the planetary arrangement in the sky at the exact moment it is fully illuminated. Did you know it's the perfect time to focus on your wellness?

The moon represents your emotional body and subconscious. The part of yourself that you typically keep hidden or buried under your social personality. During the time of a full moon, all of that comes to the surface, asking to be seen. This is why many of you feel extra emotional, or as some say, the crazy comes out. It’s not that you are crazy, but it can be uncomfortable to feel all the feels.

On April 19th, we have a full moon at the last degree (29°) of Libra. Having a full moon at the last degree of a sign means that you will feel a strong urge to finish something, to release the old, and illuminate a new path forward. The sign of Libra, ruled by the planet Venus, is all about creating balance, harmony, and keeping the peace. Whatever is asking to be released is the thing that creates disharmony in your life and makes you feel off-balance.

When you feel off-balance, your wellness suffers. Your ability to make self-care a priority diminishes and your mind and body become disconnected. So, how can you bring harmony back into your life? Below is a guide for each sign on how to best use the energy of this full moon in Libra.

*If you know your exact birth time, please read for both your Sun and Rising sign. Take what resonates with you and applies to your current life situation. If you don’t know your Rising sign, here is a blog to help you find it for free online.

aries zodiac sign astrology

Aries & Aries Rising

This full moon illuminates your 7th house of partnership and will focus on how you balance yourself with others. Your business or personal relationships may be feeling a little off-balance or restricting your ability to focus on your wellness. How can you make peace with what is and focus on accepting, not only yourself but others as well? Then get out of the house and release some of that fiery energy you’ve got building up inside with a HIIT workout.

Taurus zodiac sign astrology

Taurus & Taurus Rising

This full moon illuminates your 6th house of health and daily routines. This house has wellness written all over it! Your daily life may feel a little unsettled, and as a Taurus, that is not your comfort zone. You like consistency and surrounding yourself with a beautiful environment. Being out of your comfort zone can really affect your self-care. So, your focus will be on creating daily routines and rituals that bring balance back into your life, regardless of where you are. Release the thought pattern of needing to be home to feel at peace. Find it within yourself. Think nature hikes/walks, impromptu hotel room yoga sesh, or creating on-the-go meditation spaces.

gemini zodiac sign astrology

Gemini & Gemini Rising

This full moon illuminates your 5th house of creative self-expression and pleasure. As the communicators of the zodiac, you have the talent to speak your mind. Where you may get uncomfortable is speaking from the creative power of your inner child. Connect with what brings you joy and share that with others. Don’t overthink; just find pleasure in your ability to be you. Your focus will be to balance your mind and body through creativity, through play, and through movement. Try a workout that focuses on having fun with your body, like a 90’s hip-hop dance class.

cancer zodiac sign astrology

Cancer & Cancer Rising

This full moon illuminates your 4th house of childhood memories and your emotional foundation. This is the house that is ruled by your sign and your ruler, the moon. You will feel deeply connected to your emotions at this time (even more so than normal). The focus of this full moon will be on finding balance between feeling and being. How can you create peace with the past in order to build your future? Try a yoga class that focuses on deeply rooting into the postures with long holds and slow flow.

leo zodiac sign astrology

Leo & Leo Rising

This full moon illuminates your 3rd house of learning and communication. Your fiery nature often has you focus your passion on a single activity, giving it your all with unwavering devotion. The full moon is asking you to open your mind to something new so that you may share your experience with others. Is there something you have always wanted to learn more about? This would be the time to take a class and expand your passions. Try a public speaking or writing course to flex those self-expression muscles you’ve got!

Virgo zodiac sign MINDBODY

Virgo & Virgo Rising

This full moon illuminates your 2nd house of values and physical possessions. This house is deeply connected to your environment and physical body as it is ruled by your fellow earth sign, Taurus. The full moon will put the focus on how you nourish your body and your surroundings. Where do you seek security and comfort? Are there possessions or habits that you are holding onto that may need to be released in order to feel balanced? This would be a great time to Marie Kondo your home or office.

libra zodiac sign astrology

Libra & Libra Rising

This full moon illuminates your 1st house of self-identity and appearance. As the perpetual people pleasers of the zodiac, you often do not take the time to pamper yourself. This full moon is all about you! You are being called to focus on some self-love. Devote time to what makes you feel beautiful and full of life. Schedule a massage, facial, or maybe a hair appointment to change things up a bit.

scorpio zodiac sign astrology

Scorpio & Scorpio Rising

This full moon illuminates your 12th house of intuition and spirituality. As a water sign, you are naturally connected to your inner world, but often it can be so intense that you choose to distract from it. This full moon is calling for you to explore your subconscious programming and surrender to what comes up for you. To release your fears, you must connect with them. Use this time to dive deeper into your spirituality and learn to trust your intuition. Meditation practice or energy healing would be a great way to start.

sagittarius zodiac sign astrology

Sagittarius & Sagittarius Rising

This full moon illuminates your 11th house of community and friendship. As a sign that often goes with the flow, this full moon is asking you to find a community or tribe that you want to stick with. Focus on quality, not quantity. Reassess your friendship style so you can attract those connections that you share common hopes and dreams with. This would be a great time to attend more social activities that align with your interests. Let go of those that no longer bring you joy so you can open up to authentic connections.

capricorn zodiac sign astrology

Capricorn & Capricorn Rising

This full moon illuminates your 10th house of reputation and career. This is the house ruled by your sign and your ruler, Saturn. The focus for you during this full moon will be on how you share your knowledge with the world. As a strong Earth sign, you often take the lead and create highly structured means of accomplishing tasks. This Libra energy will be asking you to step out of your comfort zone and see what it feels like to collaborate. Try something different in your work life so that you can alleviate the stress of doing it all. This would be a good time to collaborate on an event or social media campaign.

aquarius zodiac sign astrology

Aquarius & Aquarius Rising

This full moon illuminates your 9th house of expansion and growth. The focus will be to seek out impactful experiences. Often times this house is related to long-distance travel and cultural experiences, but I am not saying you need to pull an Elizabeth Gilbert move. Instead, maybe just read her book "Eat. Pray. Love" or any other book that encourages you to expand your horizons. This would also be a good time to try a new restaurant that offers food you have never been exposed to before or start learning a new language.

pisces zodiac sign astrology

Pisces & Pisces Rising

This full moon illuminates your 8th house of transformation. Ruled by your fellow water sign, Scorpio, this house is emotionally intense. You will feel the desire to transform different aspects of your life, from your resources, to your emotional habits, and even your intimate relationships. Your focus will be on strengthening the bonds you have by connecting on a deeper level. This would be a great time to explore tantric practices or kundalini yoga

Happy Full Moon vibes everyone!

What is Wellness?

Expert Advice
Wellness

To say the last year and a half was tough would be an understatement. In fact, it will probably go down as one of the most difficult times for our modern generation. In one of the many social polls we conducted during the pandemic, some of you described this time as a sheer “dumpster fire” or “like stepping on a Lego.” And to be honest, I couldn’t agree more.

Luckily, we’ve been able to get back to some form of normalcy in our lives and wellness routines over the last several months. As vaccines became available to the public, wellness businesses welcomed fitness fanatics, haircut seekers, and massage lovers back to in-person wellness experiences. And thank goodness for that—my roots and horrible posture from working from my bed were both getting wildly out of control. This girl needed a good massage and cupping session stat.

If there’s one thing we learned from the pandemic, it’s that our wellness routines are as personal as they are important. During shelter-at-home, those routines looked a bit different. For many, it meant taking a new approach to the “typical” wellness services we count on—I’m looking at you DIY haircuts, at-home waxing sessions (ouch!), and virtual swerking classes.

Now that we can leave our humble abodes to take advantage of in-person experiences again, the word “wellness” has seemingly taken on a new meaning.

Recently, we conducted another one of our famous social polls to see what wellness means to you, our Mindbody community, now that we're slowly but surely getting back to our regularly scheduled programming. We also tapped some of our most influential Mindbody business owners about the ever-evolving wellness landscape.

Here’s what you all had to say.

Wellness is more important to you than ever

According to our annual Mindbody Wellness Index, 60% of Americans say they’re more focused on their health and wellness since COVID. Consumers are now realizing they need to take greater care of themselves to optimize and preserve their health. When we asked you on Instagram how important wellness is, a whopping 98% said it was more important than ever. When it comes to how you’re practicing wellness, though, the answers were all over the board. Many of you pointed to journaling, practicing breathwork, and daily workout routines (cycling and yoga topped the list) as being the activities that help you keep your chill throughout the week.

I’m also happy to report that over 50% said you tend to feel more blessed than stressed on a daily basis—which is more than likely a big improvement. Let’s be honest, a year ago I would’ve bet a billion dollars that 99.9% of us knew no other feeling than anxiety—am I right? But even with the stress in our lives dwindling, many of you are still experiencing burnout at the end of a long work week (guilty!). But instead of succumbing to a bottle of wine for relief (please, that was so 2020), you’re unwinding by going to your favorite workout classes—with hot yoga, barre, and Pilates as your faves.

What wellness means to the pros

Let’s be honest, we should credit the business owners in this space for helping us reignite our spark when it comes to our wellness routines, right? Thanks to them, we’ve been inspired to prioritize the activities that help us feel our best. In turn, we thought it’d be interesting to learn what wellness means to them—and how that definition has changed over the past eighteen months.

Here’s what they had to say.

“Wellness is living in balance—mind, body, spirit. Highs and lows. It all ebbs and flows and we can navigate it a bit better when we take time to move, breath and remember who we are, and how we are connected to this big, beautiful world.” - Jess Pierno, Founder, Owner, and Chief Inspiration Officer of Yoga Heights

“Wellness is a true balancing of the mental, physical, and spiritual. It has definitely evolved over the years for me—from something that I just thought was about exercising and eating a healthy diet—to also incorporating balancing and healing internally and spiritually.” - Stefanie Patterson, Owner, Indianapolis Salt Cave and Halotherapy Center

“My sense of wellness has evolved from staying healthy and motivated, mind/body/spirit... to being more gentle with myself, less demanding. Accepting my limitations, taking time for resting, and gaining real clarity about what's important. I care less about what people think of me—difficult as a performer and as a business owner with so many demands on me—and more about getting quiet and tapping into the divine source inside of me that helps me discern my next move. In this way, I know my motives are as pure as possible and I'm not getting distracted—not that I don't make mistakes! Those are necessary, that's how we learn!” - Johanna Krynytzky, Owner, Hip Expressions Belly Dance Studio

“My studio name reminds us that we are constantly evolving. The past 18 months have certainly shown us that! Wellness to me means doing your best on any given day to make sure that you are taking care of yourself as best you can. It leads to resilience. Diet, exercise, sleep, a sense of community, and some form of faith. It all matters. Setbacks happen all the time, and every day is a chance to start again. We strive to be 'cheerleaders' for our clients when we sense that things are coming out of balance in their lives. So many have been with us for 18 years and are friends—they are our community and we all watch out for each other.” - Mo Wolfe, Owner and Founder, Evolution Pilates

Putting wellness into action

I think we can all agree that there isn’t one true definition of wellness anymore. To some of us, it means getting that hot yoga sesh in daily, and to others, it means carving out time to treat ourselves to a massage or manicure. As long as you’re actively pursuing wellness—whatever that means to you—you're on the right track.

Our MO has always been about connecting the world to wellness—a term that's seen a lot of change lately. Whether you’re fully embracing the in-person experience or still delighted by the convenience of practicing at-home wellness, the Mindbody app makes it easy for you to book experiences that help you feel like YOU again.
