What Holiday Cocktail (Or Mocktail) Should You Sip On, Based On Your Zodiac Sign?

It’s the holiday season, and that means colder weather, shopping for presents, and cozying up next to the fire with your loved ones. And of course, holiday parties! What goes great with all these activities? The perfect holiday drink, according to your zodiac sign!

If you’re not looking to indulge this season (or at all), any of these fun beverages can easily be crafted into a mocktail!

Aries

March 20-April 20 
Your Holiday Drink: Cranberry-Jalapeño Martini

This drink is tart and a little sassy just like you, Aries. To make this unique cocktail, you will need ½ cup cranberry juice, ½ cup fresh or frozen cranberries, ½ teaspoon chopped jalapeno, and a dash of raw sugar. Combine all the ingredients in a saucepan on the stove on low heat to make a cranberry syrup. When you are ready to serve, grab a shaker and add ice, 3 ounces of vodka, 1 tablespoon cranberry juice, and 1 tablespoon of your cooled cranberry syrup. Give it a good shake (you don’t stir) and pour it into a martini glass. Enjoy!

March 20-April 20 
Your Holiday Drink: Cranberry-Jalapeño Martini

There is nothing like a holiday classic for you, Taurus. Cozy up with some eggnog as you create your sacred holiday space. To make your own, separate one large egg and use an electric mixer to beat the yolk until stiff and creamy. Then add 1 teaspoon of sugar to the egg white and mix until peaks form. Then, slowly fold the egg white mixture into the egg yolk with a wooden spoon. In a separate bowl, beat 1 ounce of heavy cream with ½ teaspoon of almond and vanilla extracts and another teaspoon of sugar until stiff. Then slowly fold the cream into the egg mixture. Option: add rum, brandy, or bourbon and stir. Refrigerate or serve immediately with some nutmeg and cinnamon as garnish.

April 20-May 21

Add 2 ounces of pomegranate juice, 2 ounces of orange juice, 2 teaspoons of honey, 2 cups of sparkling water, and 4 ounces of gin to a pitcher and stir to mix. Pour over ice and garnish with fresh thyme and orange slices. Then serve it up alongside your charming, witty banter.

Your Holiday Drink: Pomegranate Gin Cocktail

Every Leo deserves a celebration and this punch is the purrfect crowd-pleaser. This fun beverage is easy to whip up at your next holiday party. In a punch bowl, mix 1 cup of brandy with ½ cup light agave until blended. Stir in a bottle of your favorite Riesling or sweet wine. Then, add in some more bubbles with a bottle of your favorite sparkling wine. Gather everyone around the punch (so they can sing your praises, obviously) and serve over ice with fresh lime or orange slices.

Make a simple blackberry syrup by mixing 1 cup sugar, 1 cup water, and ½ cup fresh blackberries on the stove over medium heat. Allow the mixture to simmer for a few minutes until the sugar dissolves. Then, strain and refrigerate. When you’re ready for a drink, fill a wine glass with ice, 1 ounce of chilled steeped tea, ½ ounce of your blackberry syrup, 1 ounce of dry vermouth, and top it with sparkling wine. Stir and garnish with fresh blackberries.

Remove from heat once hot enough. In a mug, add 1 ounce of brandy and 1 ounce of butterscotch liqueur. Then, top it off with some of your chai tea milk mixture. Stir slightly and dust with crushed graham crackers. This drink is sure to get those infamous, intense Scorpio vibes going.

This White Holiday Mojito is the perfect drink for your adventurous spirit, Sagittarius. In a blender, add 2 tablespoons of white rum, 1 tablespoon of coconut rum, and ¼ cup of coconut milk and pulse until smooth. Sip and enjoy like you’re celebrating the holidays on a tropical beach. 

Capricorn

There is nothing better for a Capricorn than a tried-and-true holiday mulled wine. This make-ahead drink is sure to keep your guests happy, while you’re still the popular party host. To make, combine 4 cups of apple cider, 1 bottle of your favorite bold red wine, ¼ cup of honey, 2 cinnamon sticks, the zest and juice of 1 orange, 4 whole cloves, and 3 star anise in a large pot on the stove. Bring to a boil and then reduce the heat to simmer for 10 minutes. When your guests arrive, pour into mugs and garnish with an orange slice or cinnamon stick.

To say the last year and a half was tough would be an understatement. In fact, it will probably go down as one of the most difficult times for our modern generation. In one of the many social polls we conducted during the pandemic, some of you described this time as a sheer “dumpster fire” or “like stepping on a Lego.” And to be honest, I couldn’t agree more.

Luckily, we’ve been able to get back to some form of normalcy in our lives and wellness routines over the last several months. As vaccines became available to the public, wellness businesses welcomed fitness fanatics, haircut seekers, and massage lovers back to in-person wellness experiences. And thank goodness for that—my roots and horrible posture from working from my bed were both getting wildly out of control. This girl needed a good massage and cupping session stat.

If there’s one thing we learned from the pandemic, it’s that our wellness routines are as personal as they are important. During shelter-at-home, those routines looked a bit different. For many, it meant taking a new approach to the “typical” wellness services we count on—I’m looking at you DIY haircuts, at-home waxing sessions (ouch!), and virtual swerking classes.

Now that we can leave our humble abodes to take advantage of in-person experiences again, the word “wellness” has seemingly taken on a new meaning.

Recently, we conducted another one of our famous social polls to see what wellness means to you, our Mindbody community, now that we're slowly but surely getting back to our regularly scheduled programming. We also tapped some of our most influential Mindbody business owners about the ever-evolving wellness landscape.

Here’s what you all had to say.

Wellness is more important to you than ever

According to our annual Mindbody Wellness Index, 60% of Americans say they’re more focused on their health and wellness since COVID. Consumers are now realizing they need to take greater care of themselves to optimize and preserve their health. When we asked you on Instagram how important wellness is, a whopping 98% said it was more important than ever. When it comes to how you’re practicing wellness, though, the answers were all over the board. Many of you pointed to journaling, practicing breathwork, and daily workout routines (cycling and yoga topped the list) as being the activities that help you keep your chill throughout the week.

I’m also happy to report that over 50% said you tend to feel more blessed than stressed on a daily basis—which is more than likely a big improvement. Let’s be honest, a year ago I would’ve bet a billion dollars that 99.9% of us knew no other feeling than anxiety—am I right? But even with the stress in our lives dwindling, many of you are still experiencing burnout at the end of a long work week (guilty!). But instead of succumbing to a bottle of wine for relief (please, that was so 2020), you’re unwinding by going to your favorite workout classes—with hot yoga, barre, and Pilates as your faves.

What wellness means to the pros

Let’s be honest, we should credit the business owners in this space for helping us reignite our spark when it comes to our wellness routines, right? Thanks to them, we’ve been inspired to prioritize the activities that help us feel our best. In turn, we thought it’d be interesting to learn what wellness means to them—and how that definition has changed over the past eighteen months.

Putting wellness into action

I think we can all agree that there isn’t one true definition of wellness anymore. To some of us, it means getting that hot yoga sesh in daily, and to others, it means carving out time to treat ourselves to a massage or manicure. As long as you’re actively pursuing wellness—whatever that means to you—you're on the right track.
